MUSIC VIDEOS CONTEST

RULES OF THE CONTEST

The rules of the contest regulate the organization, the presentation and prize-giving to edited music videos, with the aim of dynamize the sector of the visual creation, at the same time that it generates a noteworthy event for the city.

1. Can be submitted works made as an advertising support or complementary of discographic works of independent record companies, or made by the musicians themselves.

2.Can participate record companies, production companies, management companies, groups and any company, association or person related with independent music world.

3. All creators can participate. All musical styles are allowed.

4. Will be allowed unpublished works or published between 2008 and 2010, both included. Can’t be submitted works awarded in previous editions.

5. Will be considered winner the person whose name is written in the technical specifications as a director of the music video.

6. People who take part in this contest, assume all the responsibility in front of any kind of action or reclamation that could arrive to the Festival made by any individual or legal entity who considers that has royalties on the work. As a participants of the Festival, the authors commit to be the legitimate titulars of an original work.

7. The music videos have to be sent in a closed envelope, with the music video’s title. Once received, it will become part of the festival. From the delivery of the music videos, no reclamation is admitted, regardless of whether the video clip has been awarded or not.

8. The envelope also has to contain a list with the credits of all the process of production of the music video that must include, at least:
-Song’s name
-Who plays the song
-Name of the author of the song
-Name of the director of the music video
-Place where the director lives, address, an e-mail and a telephone number.
-Production
-Date of realisation
-Contact address and name of the person of that address

9. Works can be submitted in both formats DVD (PAL 720 x 576) or mini DV.

10. The works will be sent to Centre Cultural Sant Josep (Avenue d’Isabel la Catòlica, 32.
 CP 08901 – L’Hospitalet - Spain).

11. The deadline is on Thursday 6th May 2010, 21.00 h. PM

12. Festival organisers won’t be responsible of lost or damaged deliveries.

13. Jury’s composition is the following:

-President: The deputy mayor in the Culture and Education Area (or person delegated)
-Vice-president: the district councillor (or person delegated)
-The members: three people of renowned personal and professional value in the musical and audiovisual sector, and the director of the Festival.
-Secretary: City council’s secretary (or person delegated)

The jury is constituted with the presence of the president (or person delegated), the secretary and two members.

14. While the deliberation, with the aim of being objective, the jury will have numbered copies of the music videos submitted, without any reference to their authors.

15. The organizing committee, following the criterion and instructions of the jury, will make a previous selection of the submitted works, in order to make easier the deliberation.

16. The organizing committee will be constituted by a representative of the Education and Culture Area, a representative of the cultural center Sant Josep, a representative of an musical entity from the city and the festival’s director.

17. The verdict will be announced on Friday 4th June 2009, during the Festival, and it will be unappealable.

18. The awards might be considered void by the jury according to the quality of the works submitted.

19. According to the conditions established in the article 2.2.1 of the Royal Decree 1775/2004, of the 30 July, by which is approved the Regulation of the Income Tax, the city council will have a six months period, since the date of the prize-giving ceremony, while it will be able to edit and broadcast the winner works with no profit motive.

After this period, the works will pass once and for all to their authors. Whether if the publication and broadcast are made by the city council or by the author, is has to figure in that the work has being awarded in Hospitalet’s 6th Festival of Independent Music Videos.

20. Won’t be accepted any work that in jury’s opinion entails a violation of human rights.

21. The committee that organises the Festival will resolve unilaterally the circumstances not predicted in these rules.

22. Participation in the contest implies knowledge and acceptance of all the terms and conditions, as well as jury and committee decisions.



PRIZES

a)Three prizes are awarded:

1st prize: 1,500 euros
2nd prize: 1,000 euros
3rd prize: 750 euros

b) A 300 euros prize will be awarded to the best work submitted by a producer who lives in Hospitalet. The winner will be chosen by the public.

c) The awarded works plus a selection chosen by the jury will be published in DVD format and will be distributed to the specialized media and agents of the sector.

d)The awarded works will be broadcast in specialized programs of the net of local televisions of Catalonia.

For prize-giving will be taken into account the following criterion:

- Direction or realisation
- Editing and mounting and technical quality
- The creative development
- The consistency among music and visual aspect.

DOCUCLIP CONTEST
RULES

This rules regulate the organisation, presentation and the awarding of a prize for a docuclip. Docuclips are any short investigation work, research, documentation, compilation, etc. about a topic related to music or musicians.

1. The documentary can be about any topic aspect or musical style.

2. The participation is open to all the creators.

3.The maximum length of the video is 12 minutes.

4. Will be considered winner the person whose name is written in the technical specifications as a director of the docuclip.

5. People who takes part in this contest, assume all the responsibility in front of any kind of action or reclamation that could arrive to the Festival made by any individual or legal entity who considers that has royalties on the work. As a participants of the Festival, the authors commit to be the legitimate titulars of an original work.

- A short summary about the topic.
-The name of the director of the documentary.
- An address, an e-mail and a telephone number.
- The production.

a) A 1.200 € prize will be awarded to the best documentary submitted.

b) A 750 € prize will be awarded to the best documentary about some musical aspect of
Hospitalet.
